Book Club: Big Little Lies- Liane Moriarty

Reading has always been a favorite pastime of mine.  My first book obsession came with the Harry Potter series.  They hit the shelves when I was about 11 years old and I can remember each year in preparation for the new book I would re-read all of the ones before!  Yes, there was a time when the entire series wasn't out and you had to wait a whole year before you found out what happened with Harry, Ron and Hermione.  I was always there at midnight to get my new copy, even during the last release when we were on a family road trip to Las Vegas.  My dad stopped in a Colorado Walmart at midnight just so I could finish out my tradition!

Lately, I haven't been into a series of books, but I do have an author that I love- anyone starting a Liane Moriarty fan club?!? I have read all of her books (except for one which I am about to start) and she just gets better with each one.  I hope wherever she is, she is working on another book - or five!!!!

Big Little Lies was probably my favorite that I've read so far.  I absolutely couldn't put it down, the characters were complex and likable.  There was depth and mystery, plus I loved the police report excerpts scattered throughout.  Usually I gravitate towards fluffy rom-com type books, but Liane has opened my reading world to a whole new genre.  The best part was that after I had finished the book, I saw that HBO is making a mini-series with Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman, and I cannot wait!!!!!!  It's coming out in February and we already have our DVR set! Who wants a weekly coffee date to talk about the series?! (maybe I'll write a few posts about those as well!) *disclaimer- yes there is a sticker ON THE FRONT OF THE BOOK that was surely supposed to inform me of this mini series but I totally ignored it/didn't see it!!!

Sorry, this post got a little long!! Anyway, I totally recommend this book to anyone looking to kill a few hours with some new friends and solve a murder along the way! It's the perfect mix of fluffy and mystery, also it never gets too intense that crosses over into the "nope, not sleeping tonight" zone!

Thanks for reading this long post about reading! Happy Reading!
